“Mazie Hirono is a consistent twenty-eight year supporter of education and educational issues. She is an advocate for early childhood education and we whole heartedly endorse Mazie for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives.” - Roger Takabayashi, President of HSTA
Education: Congresswoman Hirono has championed the PRE-K Act (H.R. 3289) which will provide funds to state-supported pre-schools across the country to help increase the quality of early education for children. This legislation will give schools access to resources they need to better prepare children with essential development critical to children under the age of five.
Sierra Club
“We are deeply grateful to Congresswoman Hirono for her commitment to putting our nation's clean energy solutions to work. She is a true environmental champion who not only votes smartly on environmental issues, but also leads the fight to protect Hawaii's clean air, clean water and special places.” - Mark Glick, Sierra Club, Hawaii Chapter
Environment & Renewable Energy: With escalating gas prices, Congresswoman Hirono voted to expand consumer incentives for renewable electricity, energy and fuel. She obtained $2 million to clean up a military dump near Bellows Beach and successfully fought for additional funding to protect Hawaii’s unique places such as Campbell National Wildlife Refuge, where an additional $3.9 million will be spent.
